Make the dough: Combine 1/2 cup sugar, flour, and baking powder in a bowl.

Add egg and stir until dough forms. Let rest for 30 minutes.

In a separate bowl, mix together 3 Tbsp sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon.

Toss the sliced apples with lemon juice in a bowl.

Lightly butter a pie dish.

Layer the filling in thirds (creating 9 layers total):

Flatten the dough and place on top as a crust.

Bake at 450°F for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 350°F and bake for 45 minutes.

Cool for 20 minutes before serving.
