    Preheat oven to 425°F. Lightly butter twelve 1/2-cup muffin tins.

    Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, and allspice into a bowl.

    In another bowl with an electric mixer, cream sugar and butter until light and fluffy.

    Add eggs one at a time, beating well and scraping down the sides of the bowl after each addition.

    Add molasses and milk, beating until combined.

    Add flour mixture in batches, beating until just combined.

    Fold in raisins and walnuts.

    Fill muffin tins with batter.

    Bake in the middle of the oven until a tester comes out clean, about 17 minutes.

    Turn muffins out onto racks to cool.

💡 Cook's Notes

These muffins are best served warm. The sorghum molasses gives a distinctive Southern flavor, but any dark molasses works well.
