    Brown the meat in a large skillet and drain off excess fat.

    Add garlic, basil, salt, tomatoes, and tomato paste. Simmer uncovered for up to 30 minutes.

    If using uncooked lasagna noodles, cook until soft according to package directions.

    Prepare the cheese filling by mixing cottage cheese, Parmesan, parsley, oregano, eggs, salt, and pepper in a bowl.

    In an open casserole dish, layer half the noodles on the bottom.

    Layer with cheese filling, red meat sauce, and some mozzarella cheese.

    Top with remaining noodles and red sauce.

    Reserve some mozzarella for the top and sprinkle with oregano.
