Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 350°F.
- 2
Line a 13x9-inch baking dish with foil, allowing a 2-inch overhang on the sides. Butter the foil.
- 3
Make the crust:
- 4
Press dough into bottom of prepared baking dish.
- 5
Bake crust until golden in color, about 20-25 minutes (some reviews suggest 15 minutes).
- 6
Meanwhile, make the filling:
- 7
Spread the filling over the baked crust.
- 8
Bake until golden brown, about 30 minutes. Watch cooking time carefully to prevent burning.
- 9
Remove from oven and allow to cool completely in the pan.
- 10
Remove from pan by pulling up the foil sides and transfer to a cutting board.
- 11
Cut into desired size bars with a sharp knife and arrange on a serving tray.
💡 Cook's Notes
Reviews suggest reducing crust butter to just one stick and baking the crust for as little as 10 minutes. Some also recommend adding a tablespoon of bourbon (or other liquor) to the filling. Can be stored in an airtight container up to 2 days.
