Prepare rice layer
In a casserole dish, spread rice evenly on bottom.

Add butter
Slowly pour melted butter over rice, spacing evenly over surface.

Add broth
Mix bouillon cubes and water, then slowly add to dish.

Add soup mix
Sprinkle dry onion soup mix over the rice and broth.

Season chicken
Salt and pepper chicken pieces and place on top of rice.

Add optional seasonings
Add whatever spices or seasonings extra, as desired (basil, mushrooms, almonds, garlic salt, poultry seasoning, peppers, or jalapeños).

Bake uncovered at 350°F for 1 hour, then reduce to 300°F and bake for 30 minutes more.
