Instructions

    Prepare all mise en place.

    Sauté onions and garlic in a large stew pot with olive oil until softened.

    Remove onions and garlic and set aside.

  4. 4

    Using the same pot, brown all the ground sirloin in batches.

  5. 5

    Return the onions and garlic to the pot with the browned meat.

    Add tomato sauce, stewed tomatoes, all spices, jalapeños, hot sauce, and beans.

    Stir well and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

    Simmer until flavors meld together.

💡 Cook's Notes

**Optional:** For a denser, more luscious texture, stir in some shredded sharp cheddar cheese while the chili is hot. Add just enough to improve the texture without changing the red color. Team Fulbright competition recipe.
