    Prepare rice or noodles ahead of time.

    If using noodles, cook them in water, then fry in olive or sesame oil until slightly crispy. Set aside.

    Heat oil in a wok over high heat.

    Add ingredients in the approximate order listed, allowing each to cook properly:

    Add oyster sauce, sugar, and sake to the wok and cook briefly to let the alcohol evaporate.

    Make a slurry by mixing sake and cornstarch, then add to the wok as a binder to thicken the sauce.

    Finish cooking until vegetables are tender-crisp and sauce has thickened.

    Serve over rice or crispy noodles and sprinkle roasted macadamia nuts on top.
