💡 Cook's Notes

This recipe has been made by multiple generations of the family. It keeps well for a couple of days when covered and refrigerated, and reheats well in the microwave for a few seconds. **Lighter Version:** Can be made with low-fat cream cheese and stevia (sugar substitute) with delicious results. **Half Filling Option:** The original recipe makes a very heavily filled Danish. For a lighter version, halve the filling using: 1 package cream cheese 1/2 cup sugar 1 whole egg 1/2 tsp vanilla extract If using the half filling method, bake for 30-35 minutes instead.
