Instructions

  1. 1

Slice the challah bread and let it dry overnight for better texture when cooked.

  2. 2

Mix eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, evaporated milk, and canola oil in a wide bowl suitable for dredging.

  3. 3

Heat a skillet or griddle and coat the surface with a little cooking oil.

  4. 4

When hot, stir the egg mixture one more time and begin dredging and frying pieces of bread.

  5. 5

Cook until brown on both sides, avoiding charring the toast on a griddle that's too hot.

  6. 6

While the bottom side cooks, sprinkle the top side with a little cinnamon sugar mixture.

  7. 7

When done, place on a warmed serving plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar for garnish.

  8. 8

Serve with syrups, jellies, preserves, and/or honey.

💡 Cook's Notes

One King's Bakery loaf serves 5-6 people. This 4-egg, 1/2 cup milk recipe is enough for making French toast for 4 people at most. For 5-8 people, double the recipe to use 8 eggs.
